Melody | AUCKLAND NZ

Melody  is a very talented and experienced musician, especially on  her specialty instrument - the traditional Chinese zither harp.  Melody likes to mix it up by also playing popular Chinese folk songs on her standard European harp for the ultimate Chinese traditional musical experience. 

 Melody is very much in demand as a soloist and guest harpist with the various orchestras in Auckland as well as regularly performing at private functions.   She studied classical piano and harp and the traditional Chinese zither harp and showed real talent from an early age. Melody was awarded 3rd prize in a national harp competition held in Taiwan.  Since completing her BMus performance (harp) at the University of Auckland with Rebecca Harris, Melody has performed with various ensembles and orchestras, including Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and St Matthews Chamber Orchestra.  She is an accompanist for many choirs as well as New Zealand Opera. Melody also teaches the harp/harp ensembles and she is one of our exclusive roster of harpists currently in residence in Palm Court at Auckland’s elegant Langham Hotel.

 The zither has a five-tone scale and has a very unique and evocative sound.  Melody plays it very well - in fact she LOVES playing it!  It was the instrument she majored in when she was studying music in Taiwan, before immigrating to NZ.   Whether your function is to celebrate the Chinese New Year or simply to celebrate another special occasion, your guests will love to hear Melody play.
